ALONG THE BEACHES OF RIO DE JANEIRO
Coming to Rio without making the round of the beaches having made the reputation of the city would be a sacrilege. In the most central part of the city, are actually 7 main beaches.
Flamengo beach along the Guanabara Bay about 1500m long with at its end a marina. Throughout its length it is lined with beautiful parkland "Aterro flamengo" where are planted over 10000 trees. The modern art museum is also located in this park
Botafogo beach with 600m long is still part of the large Guanabara Bay and is siding the quarter of Rio having the same name. When climbing sugar loaf, this is the first beach seen.
The tiny red beach or vermilion beach, 200m long, is set between the blocks of granite Morro Urca on one hand and Leme on the other.
Then, continuing south we find the beaches of Leme (1200m) and Copacabana (2800), which in fact form a continuous stretch of sand, differentiation being by the limits of the municipalities of Copacabana and Leme.
Copacabana separated by the fortress and the small beach Diabo, from the beach of Ipanema (2800m) Then Leblon beach(1500m) itself is separated from Ipanema,by only a small channel connecting Lake Rodrigo de Freitas.
The beaches themselves are well maintained, however, I cannot evaluate the water quality. At this time of year, the temperature is cool enough, it is true, but despite of that you can still be surprised that so many Cariocas are staying on the sand, and very few in the water. The pollution would it be an explanation?
Despite this reserve, the panorama of the beach is exceptional, from the terrace of the Marriott in the 18th floor, panoramic view of Copacabana is breathless.
In the morning, you can see the continuous flow of of the vehicles on the Atlantic Avenue,
joggers, cyclists or rolling skaters on pedestrian lane
and groups working out on the beach.
On Sunday, the avenue is not open to cars and we decided to walk along some 8.5 km representing the beaches of Leme, Copacabana on the one hand and continuing to the south, with Ipanema and Leblon.
Throughout the unusual images available to us:
advertising demonstration of ice cream dealers
Doctor practicing check up
Fitness club
Musician playing Christmas tunes
Artists making sandcastle
Capoeira artists
Of course we will see the surfers on the Ipanema waves from the Arpoador rock. This video clip shows the action.
As the sun became very hot during the day, we do not resist the huge need to drink a coconut water (2 Reals) in one of the many beach bar arranged along the way.
Those beach bars are the targets of merchants of pareos, stones, watches and trinkets of all kinds. We will negotiate a lot of caps and Brazilian bracelets for a good price.
Coming back to the hotel, we enjoy the shade and freshness street parallel to the Avenue of the Atlantic. We will find many shops here offering prices far lower than on the waterfront distant only a hundred meters.

I cannot conclude this description without mentioning the Cariocas colonizing the beaches and engaged in soccer, beach volleyball or just improving their tan.
In this connection, we found that the image of beautiful girls from Ipanema may be a little restrictive. You can also see on these beaches some different pictures.
